The Aftermath At Wheeling Island

| | Comments (0)

Well, the battlefield in Wheeling tonight was cold, with an unforgiving wind that sent more than one Tolsia punt and pass floating out-of-bounds or into the hands of the Pioneers. I'm regretful to say that the Rebels were unable to pull out the state championship after a tremendous display of defense and heart during the first three quarters of the game. But we in the Rebel Nation shouldn't keep our heads down! No sir. I had on my orange and blue, and I had on the webcast, and it seems by my friends' comments that the Virginia/Maryland contingent of the Tolsia fan club was a lot bigger than I expected. And as I mentioned yesterday, this was still fantastic exposure for both schools and for Wayne County as a whole. It also sounded like we impressed the Metro News announcers on more than one occasion, which is a welcome change to the sometimes biased commentating I'm used to given the teams I root for. So, you've got a lot to be proud of, Rebels - fans and players and coaches alike. It also sounds like we're graduating a star player in BJ Evans, so best of luck to him (and here's hoping there's more where that came from). Get 'em next year, guys!
